The nationwide recall affects a number of Diono car seat models that may not be able to adequately protect your child in the event of an accident.

The NHTSA documents reveal that when a child weighing 60 pounds or more is restrained in the seat using the lap belt without the top tether there is "an increased risk of chest injury" as well a "risk of striking the vehicle interior during a crash."

So which models are affected?

The recall covers the following Dionio (formerly known as Sunshine Kids Juvenile) models:

  • Radian R100
  • Radian R120
  • Radian RXT
  • Olympia
  • Pacifica
  • Rainier Convertible and booster seats

Diono discovered the fault in the seats during the company's routine testing. No injuries have been reported, but the company is urging parents who are in possession of these seats to claim a free kit to repair the issue.

Owners will start to receive their kits, which consists of an energy absorbing pad and a new chest clip, from November 22 onwards.

Questions and concerns can be directed at Diono by calling 855-463-4666.

Share this with anyone you know that might be affected by the recall.
