The decision not to put the band's name or the album title on the cover got backlash from the band's record company EMI, but the cover's designer Kosh said "we didn't need to write the band's name on the cover ... They were the most famous band in the world."</p><p> </p><p><strong>2. The police van</strong></p><p>Around the time of the album's release, an elaborate conspiracy that Paul McCartney had died and been replaced was becoming popular. To fans, the police van on the right side of the cover is supposed to be proof of the theory.</p><div><figure><a href="https://www.google.ca/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&ved=0ahUKEwjV6tms1JfUAhUj5IMKHZIgAzcQjxwIAw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.feelnumb.com%2F2010%2F12%2F27%2Foasis-be-here-now-license-plate-matches-the-beatles-abbey-road-police-car-license-plate%2F&psig=AFQjCNG8azlBZxmt7rpF-5N4Wh5SqvSmHQ&ust=1496235128847207" target="_blank"><amp-img src="/content/images/2017/05/the_beatles_abbey_road_license_plate_oasis_be_here_now_SYO724F.jpg" srcset="/content/images/2017/05/the_beatles_abbey_road_license_plate_oasis_be_here_now_SYO724F_GH_content_550px.jpg 550w" sizes="89vw" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img></a><figcaption class="op-vertical-center"><cite><a href="https://www.google.ca/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&ved=0ahUKEwjV6tms1JfUAhUj5IMKHZIgAzcQjxwIAw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.feelnumb.com%2F2010%2F12%2F27%2Foasis-be-here-now-license-plate-matches-the-beatles-abbey-road-police-car-license-plate%2F&psig=AFQjCNG8azlBZxmt7rpF-5N4Wh5SqvSmHQ&ust=1496235128847207" target="_blank">Feel Numb</a></cite></figcaption></figure></div><p><!-- [invalid-shortcode] --></p><p></p><p>In fact, it's part of the unglamorous process to take the shot. Cameraman Ian Macmillan stood on a stepladder in the middle of the street to take the picture, while a police officer stopped traffic.
